James Gunn and the Peacemaker Crew Blow the Roof Off Hall H with Season 2 Teases

Hot off the buzz from Superman, James Gunn returned to Hall H to drop explosive updates on Season 2 of Peacemaker. He didn’t come alone—joining him on stage were series stars John Cena (Peacemaker), Danielle Brooks (Adebayo), Jennifer Holland (Harcourt), Freddie Stroma (Vigilante), Steve Agee (Economos), Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.), Sol Rodriguez (Sasha Bordeaux), and newcomer Tim Meadows (Langston Fleury). And yes—they came to wow.

The panel kicked off with a bang: the debut of the Season 2 trailer (now online), met with a roar from the crowd. Gunn took the stage to confirm that Peacemaker Season 2 picks up just a month after the events of Superman. This time, the series will feature major DC characters including Green Lantern/Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders (Isabela Merced), and Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn), with more surprise appearances teased.

This season sees Peacemaker basking in a twisted parallel dimension—he’s happy, in love with Harcourt, and celebrated as a hero. But back in the real world, Harcourt is in a dark place, and Rick Flag Sr. is hunting Peacemaker for killing his son. Meanwhile, Adebayo is on her own path, trying to convince Chris that the grass isn’t always greener, and he belongs with his team.

Fans were treated to two exclusive clips:

  • The first clip featured Harcourt in a bar brawl, taking on everyone in the bar in a fight that turned bloody and brutal. The choreography was next-level—if this is a sign of what’s to come, the action this season has been seriously dialed up.
  • The second clip showed Tim Meadows’ Langston and Steve Agee’s Economos eavesdropping on a heart-to-heart between Peacemaker and Adebayo. What stole the scene? A hilariously absurd exchange about “bird blindness” that had all of Hall H in stitches. Meadows fits right into this misfit crew, bringing fresh comedic energy.

There are even more surprises: Jennifer Holland will have her own “Dirty Dancing” moment in the new opening dance number. Gunn teased that this season is more violent, more mature, and “definitely not for kids.” He also revealed the Season 2 finale is his favorite thing he’s ever filmed—while episodes 1, 6, and 8 were particular standouts for the cast.

Fan-favorite Eagly also gets a full-on fight scene this season—and is being hunted by Red St. Wild (Michael Rooker), a ruthless eagle hunter. Gunn closed the panel by praising John Cena’s performance this season, saying he was blown away by Cena’s growth as an actor since Season 1 and called his work in Season 2 “truly impressive.”

Peacemaker returns August 21 at 9PM ET/PT on HBO Max. Get ready.
